I am writing to express how pleased and impressed I was with how Newland Homes have handled our business association over the past 2 years. I was acting Chairman of Stroud Cricket Club (SCC) for two years. During this period, acting on behalf of the club, I negotiated the sale of the ground at Farmhill, Stroud, which has been the club's home since 1850. SCC have for over 12 years been seeking a larger field as the 4+ acre site at Farmhill was two small and certainly could not accommodate 2 pitches. As the result of an intensive search a 9.2 acre site was located and secured at Ryeford.
Developers were sought for the purchase of the Farmhill site. Out of 4 major nationally known developers, it was decided to go with Newland Homes. Even though it was the height of the recession and when particularly developers stopped developing, Newland Homes were unwaveringly enthusiastic in their desire to proceed.
We embarked upon a lengthy and complex planning process of which the sale acquisition of three elements had to be coordinated simultaneously:
a) Sale of Farmhill to Newland Homes
b) Purchase of land at Ryeford by SCC
c) Purchase of existing Pavilion building at Farmhill by Seasons Nursery Ltd.
All of these elements were predicated upon planning consents being approved including Section 106 elements. In addition to requiring successful Planning Applications on all elements, approvals from governing agencies also needed to be obtained together with local Public hearings.
Throughout all of the above processes, I can unequivocally say that Newland Homes senior staff were highly professional, honest and a pleasure to work with. No issue appeared to be insurmountable. Without their skill and positive approach, SCC would still be stuck in the 1850's. Now, they enjoy a new County size cricket ground with two squares and a magnificent new building.
