Land north of Collin Lane, Willersey, Glos. WR12 7PE
In January 2019 Newland Homes’ Outline Application for 38 new homes on land between the current site (Willow Green) and The Quinary was refused. All matters were acceptable to the District Council, except that the Terrify site east of the Industrial Park was the Council’s preferred allocation, and as they could demonstrate a 5 year housing land supply, the Planning Inspector agreed with this.
Newland Homes has been considering alternative low carbon opportunities for the site and expect to make a planning application in December 2020.
One of the things Newland Homes prides itself on is building attractive looking homes, and the current Willow Green development at Willersey is highly regarded. However our approach to sustainability and the environment specifically to this site has evolved in response to the climate and ecological emergency.
Rather than meeting minimum standards of efficiency this application will offer a highly sustainable ultra low carbon development, with landscape, ecology and sensitive place-making at its heart. Development of this nature could be built alongside, but preferably ahead of existing planned development to act as a catalyst and exemplar in how new housing should be built.
In this we have commissioned Architects Stride Treglown who are highly regarded for their sustainability approach married to excellent design.

As their Head of Sustainable Design says: “Well designed exemplars need to come forward to demonstrate the deliverability of this approach, supporting local authorities and communities to raise the bar, and provide kinder greener and healthier homes.”
