Newland Homes - Considerate, Conscientious, Crafted

Every Newland home has been

Willersey community to benefit from almost £90,000 contributions from us

Newland Homes is giving £88,000 to the community of Willersey to improve facilities and education provision in the village.

The sum, which comprises £60,000 to fund improvements to the village hall, £20,000 for the recreation area and £8,000 to Willersey Church of England Primary School, is being provided as part of community contributions thanks to Newland Homes’ Willow Green development in the village.

Willow Green is a collection of 50 homes, including three and four-bedroom Cotswold country houses and bungalows for the open market.

All properties have been thoughtfully designed inside and out to make the most of modern day comforts and efficiencies, and offering great kerb appeal with homes which are crafted in a range of finishes, including Cotswold stone and slate materials in order to give them individuality as well as blending in with existing properties in the area.

In addition to part-funding current plans to alter and refurbish the existing main building of the village hall, the money will be spent on the recreation ground to refurbish some of the existing fences and install additional fencing, as well as replace trees and add adult exercise equipment.

Brian Lawrence, Chairman of Willersey Parish Council said: “The contribution will provide a significant part of the funds necessary for the refurbishment of our Village Hall, which requires major repairs and work to bring it up to a modern standard. The Hall is the focal point of our village life hosting numerous societies, groups and classes and it is essential for our community that it is able to provide a welcoming environment.

“Our Recreation Ground will also receive a contribution which will allow for improved fencing to provide a safer area for users which include classes from our Village School. The additional equipment we will also install will help to meet the growing demand for adult exercise facilities.”

Willersey Church of England Primary School plans to use their contribution to purchase touchscreen tablets for pupils to use across a range of subjects, as well as new equipment for the Early Years and Key Stage One outdoor area, including an outdoor kitchen, a cottage play house, a new picnic bench and a selection of toys and games.  The school is also planning to restock the school library and to start a gardening club.

Head Teacher at Willersey Church of England Primary School, Mark Jackson, said: “The contribution from Newland Homes will help us improve the facilities at the school for our pupils.  Many pupils have expressed a keen interest in taking part in a gardening club and so we’ll be able to offer this, as well as refresh the books and authors in our library and increase our ICT provision.  It will also be great to improve the outdoor space for the pupils in the Early Years by introducing new equipment made of natural materials that they can use to play and learn together.”

Andrew Billings, Land Director at Newland Homes, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to support the community of Willersey to fund projects that they have been planning for a long time, especially for the improvement of village facilities and to support the education of the village’s youngsters.

“We always work to deliver new housing that will add to the existing community and that also meets the needs of the local population too.  Willow Green has been inspired by Willersey’s rural surroundings and local architecture and this tranquil development reflects and respects the character of the village and its idyllic setting.”

The show home and marketing suite at Willow Green is open daily from 11am until 5pm and can be found on Collin Lane, Willersey WR12 7PE.  For more information click here.
