SHOWHOMES – TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY?

SHOWHOMES – TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY?

Showhomes – To buy or not to buy?  An age old question for a new housing development.  A quick search online will highlight there are many differing views on this.  As two showhomes at Heron Rise in Westbury have been released for sale, we unpick some of these arguments once and for all, so you could have a new pad in time for Christmas.

The purchase of a new home is probably the largest financial transaction that most people will ever make.  For those that have difficulty visualising from a floorplan, buying the finished showhome helps show exactly what you’re getting.  But the benefits don’t stop there.

As the American business magnet Warren Buffett famously said, “price is what you pay, value is what you get”.  When you buy a showhome you’ll benefit from the many upgrades a developer puts into the property too.

Interior designers work their magic

How many of us have dreamed of having an interior designer work their magic on our homes?  The select roster of interior designers used on our showhomes create schemes which are aspirational but liveable.  They use beautiful colour palettes, luxury flooring and tactile wallpapers.  Rooms will reflect the ambience of the development as a whole too.  People who have moved into a newly constructed home are usually advised to pause before painting, as new houses need time to settle.  Not in a showhome however!  This process has usually taken place and the showhomes are also maintained to a high standard throughout their life.  In turn, this offers buyers a ‘turn-key’ purchase.  Buyers can move in and put their feet up in a property that’s just right for them.

At Heron Rise for example, both the two-bedroom ‘Osprey’ apartment and the three-bedroom ‘Tetbury’ have flooring, light fittings and window dressings throughout.  All handpicked by Newland Homes’ interior designers.  The ‘Osprey’ apartment also comes with a washing machine and dishwasher for the easiest of moves.

Landscaped, mature and established garden

Furthermore, a landscaped, mature and established garden is a thing of beauty.  From scratch, this requires a significant investment of both time and money.  As gardens are seen as an extension of a home, a showhome garden is treated with the same lavish attention as the interiors.  The three-bedroom ‘Tetbury’ benefits from a garden room at the end of its southwest facing garden.

Debunking the myths

Marcus Evans, Sales and Marketing Director for Newland Homes, debunks some of the most commonly voiced myths about buying a showhome.  “These properties are the jewel in the crown for any development.  We often hear rumours that they are all show and no substance, but that’s absolutely not the case for us.  These are our showpieces; they are constructed to our exacting standards and have full warranties.  Our teams keep them in tip-top condition too.”

The two-double bedroom ‘Osprey’ apartment benefits from two allocated parking spaces and is available to move into by Christmas for £195,000.  The three-bedroom ‘Tetbury’ is priced at £315,000 and will also be ready for Christmas.  There are a range of buying services to help you move including a £15k tailored incentive.  This can be used in a way to make the biggest difference to you – be it help with mortgage payments or assistance with stamp duty.
