We are pleased to outline proposals and further detail on our current planning application for 34 zero carbon homes and redevelopment of a brownfield site at Southgate House, Devizes.

The Site

Located within close proximity to Devizes town centre this sustainably located brownfield site consists of a two-storey former office building which previously served as the headquarters for the former NHS local Clinical Commissioning Group.

Proposed dwellings will be a similar scale to the former building and respect the existing building line with as much demolition material to be recycled as possible.

Our proposals will provide a total of 34 highly sustainable homes consisting of 1- and 2-bedroom apartments and 3- and 4-bedroom houses. Available to a wide range of purchasers, homes will create a varied community with a mix of high-quality houses and apartments, designed to enhance the site and compliment the surrounding area.

  • Connectivity through the site will be enhanced by introducing a pedestrian link from Potterne Road, through to Pans Lane, utilising an existing access.
  • Homes will be Zero Carbon and exceed current building regulations and both local and national sustainability policy requirements.
  • Homes are designed to maximise energy efficiency through their siting and orientation, high levels of insulation, photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps for heating and hot water.
  • By providing high quality, sustainable housing now, we hope to ensure housing can positively respond to the current climate emergency.
  • Generous parking will be provided and contained within the site with EV charging points available to all properties.

Landscaping

The existing landscape features will be retained where possible, enhanced, and managed to ensure the development integrates into its existing setting.  Biodiversity on site will be enhanced by providing hedgehog highways, bird boxes with additional provision for Swifts, bat boxes, pollinator planting, new tree planting and retention and management of existing features where possible.
