New Little Free Library encourages Tetbury to ‘Go All In’ on reading. The Tetbury Men’s Shed has helped us turn the page on another novel idea, with the creation of a Little Free Library at The Limes on London Road. The Little Free Library marks the second community book exchange to be installed by the company. It forms part of our pledge to support the National Year of Reading 2026.
The Tetbury Men’s Shed took on the challenge of building the Little Free Library, which is positioned at the entrance to The Limes on London Road. It is hoped the library will become a valuable resource for both residents and the wider community. People are invited to borrow a book, leave a book, and help keep the collection growing for others to enjoy.
National Year of Reading 2026
The National Year of Reading 2026 is a once-in-a-generation Department for Education initiative in collaboration with the National Literacy Trust. The year-long campaign is called Go All In. It aims to reconnect people of all ages with reading as a meaningful, modern and social activity. It also invites people to delve deeper into the things they already love through reading about them.
We’ve pledged to support the initiative through the installation of the Little Free Library at The Limes, a collection of zero carbon homes designed with sustainable living and community in mind. A total of 45 three and four bedroom homes are being built. They combine traditional craftsmanship and Cotswold stone with the latest energy efficiency technology, just a short walk from the heart of the historic town.

Tetbury Men’s Shed
The Tetbury Men’s Shed was established in 2021. It’s a place where people can pursue practical interests, develop skills and enjoy making and mending. More than that, it provides valuable social connections and the opportunity to share skills and knowledge.
Based at Old Station Yard in Tetbury, the Men’s Shed is open to men and women every Wednesday morning and throughout Thursday. It’s always keen to welcome new members. We recently donated insulation for the group’s workshop extension, which was built predominately from salvaged timber and donated materials from local suppliers.

“We’re always looking for ways to give new life to materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. Salvaging timber from derelict houses and turning it into a community mini‑library is recycling at its most meaningful. Preserving local history while creating something useful for everyone” said Alan Greenway from the Tetbury Men’s Shed.
We have also installed a bench beside the Little Free Library, creating a peaceful place to sit and read. The space has also been designed to encourage neighbourly interaction and help foster a sense of community. By creating opportunities for people to meet and strike up conversations, the Little Free Library is intended to become an enduring feature at the heart of The Limes.
Beyond 2026, the ambition is that the Free Little Library at The Limes will continue to serve the community for many years to come. At the same time helping to build momentum behind the National Year of Reading and inspire similar initiatives elsewhere.
