COTSWOLDS MP VISITS NEXT GENERATION OF ZERO CARBON HOMES

ROZ SAVAGE MP VISITS TETBURY’S NEXT GENERATION OF ZERO CARBON HOMES

Cotswolds MP visits next generation of zero carbon homes in Tetbury.  Dr Roz Savage, the South Cotswolds MP, visited our landmark development The Limes in Tetbury recently, praising the site as “inspiring” during a tour of the highly energy efficient new homes.

Dr Savage, a prominent environmental campaigner and member of the cross-party Environment Audit Committee, met the team behind the development.  Dr Savage saw firsthand how the former brownfield site on London Road has been transformed into a collection of zero carbon homes in the heart of the historic town.

All 45 homes powered and heated by renewable technologies

National debate intensifies around housing targets, planning reform and climate change.  The Limes is one of the region’s first developments where all the 45 new homes, including affordable housing, are powered and heated by renewable technologies instead of fossil fuels.

We took the opportunity to showcase how the zero carbon homes align with priorities that Dr Savage has championed in Parliament.  This includes innovation in energy efficiency and bold action on climate change.  During the visit, the Newland Homes team highlighted the infrastructure challenges involved in delivering zero carbon homes at scale.  Particularly with solar PV and the limited capacity of local electricity networks to handle increased demand and manage the power being exported back to the National Grid.

“We need more developments that are this ambitious and this forward thinking”

Roz Savage MP comments: “It’s inspiring to see a development like The Limes leading the way on truly climate-ready housing.  As we face both a housing crisis and a climate crisis, we need more developments that are this ambitious and this forward-looking.  These homes demonstrate that zero carbon living can be both practical and desirable.  I’ll continue championing this kind of innovation in Parliament so that communities across the South Cotswolds can benefit too.”

Chris Parker, Head of Marketing for Newland Homes, comments: “As a smaller, privately owned housebuilder, we welcomed the chance to share our zero carbon expertise with Roz as she’s such a powerful voice for climate responsibility.  The Limes shows that you can honour heritage whilst building sustainably for the future.  Creating a template for the kind of sustainable development the region needs.”

Dr Savage was accompanied by councillors Adam Thilthorpe from Tetbury Town Council and Nikki Ind.  Both of whom sit on both Tetbury Town Council and Cotswold District Council.

Especially popular with older homeowners in Tetbury relocating from poorly insulated properties

The Limes has proven especially popular with older homeowners in Tetbury relocating from poorly insulated properties.  Many of whom are seeking lower energy bills and modern, easier to manage living within the two, three and four bedroom homes.  Each new home achieves the top ‘A’ rating for energy efficiency and environmental impact.  They are heated via an air source heat pump, have extensive insulation and are fitted with solar panels.

In just four years, we have more than halved our operational carbon emissions and reduced our carbon intensity by almost two thirds.  This reflects a long-term commitment to responsible housebuilding across the South West.  The company has approximately 600 zero carbon homes underway or in the pipeline across the region.

Prices at The Limes start from £287,500 for a two bedroom terraced home.  With options such as MoveMaker and Part Exchange to help get people moving.   Tailor-made appointments are available daily, call 01666 719069 to book.  For further information and to view homes online click here or follow Newland Homes on socials @newlandhomes
