NEWLAND HOMES STRENGTHENS TEAM WITH KEY HIRES IN CUSTOMER CARE AND FINANCE

We’ve strengthened our team with key hires in customer care and finance.  The two strategic appointments are part of our ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.   As a Gloucestershire-based housebuilder we have welcomed Matt Maddocks as Head of Customer Care and Helen Portman as our first ever Finance Manager.

Matt Maddocks – Head of Customer Care

As a former site manager, Matt’s ability to combine technical construction knowledge with a strong customer focus means he’s ideally placed to spot potential issues early, resolve them quickly and give homeowners confidence in the service they receive.

Matt joins us from Vistry Group, where he was a site manager prior to taking on an area manager role.  “I get a huge amount of satisfaction from interacting with homeowners” says Matt.  “When customers reach out with a query or concern after moving in, there’s nothing better than listening, resolving the matter and ending the interaction with a handshake and a smile.”

Matt reports to Ian Hughes, Associate Construction Director at Newland Homes. “Matt’s background in site management gives him a real edge when it comes to understanding both the technical side of housebuilding and the importance of clear communication with our homeowners.  He’s solutions-focused and genuinely cares, which makes him a great fit for this role.”

We have been at the forefront of transitioning homes to greener energy, jettisoning gas boilers in favour of air source heat pumps and solar panels.  The strive to be ahead of the curve is what first attracted Matt to us.  “They struck me as a company that wanted to work proactively to identify what was best for the customer, not just the bottom line.  I’ve been on a high ever since I joined.  I’m proud to work for a housebuilder who puts the customer first” says Matt.

Helen Portman is our first ever Finance Manager

Meanwhile, Helen Portman steps into the newly created role of Finance Manager, reporting to Finance Director Zoe White.  Helen will take the lead on maximising the potential of the company’s COINS software system, as well as assisting with the production of month end management accounts to ensure accurate financial records and informed decision making.

Helen brings a wealth of experience to her new role with a strong background in housebuilding, expertise in COINS having been at Pegasus Homes for nine years, and commercial insight from running her own successful retail business. “I’m looking forward to using my skills to help Newland Homes make the most of the systems and tools already in place across the company” explains Helen.

As a member of the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and volunteer at a local nature reserve, Helen was particularly keen to work for us because of our comprehensive commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.  The company’s ethos of building zero carbon homes and supporting biodiversity in its developments, with elements such as wildflower planting, hedgehog highways and allotments, closely aligns with her personal values.

Zoe White, Finance Director for Newland Homes, comments: “Helen not only brings financial acumen but also a sharp commercial perspective and people skills that are vital in a dynamic and collaborative business like ours.  Creating the Finance Manager role helps strengthen our finance team and ensure we have the right expertise in place to support the business long term.”

Newland Homes is a climate considerate housebuilder, established in 1991.  The company has developments underway in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.  For further information about us, please click here or call 01452 623000.
